Billings refers to the Earth’s first five billion years as being in solitude because to our knowledge, we are alone in this universe. This book details the hopes and search to make sure that our next five billion years is not as solitary. Five Billion Years of Solitude: The Search for Life Among the Stars immediately grabs its audience by suggesting the prospect of discovering life on other planets. Due to the topics nature being the premise of millions of books, television shows and movies, the possibility of other worlds being out there is very intriguing.
